Data Sources
Historical data is retrieved from public APIs:
- History API: We use history.muffinlabs.com to fetch historical events, births, and deaths.
- Wikipedia Links: Event details link to Wikipedia articles for additional information.
Data Storage
All your preferences and settings are stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API. This includes:
- Theme preference (light/dark mode)
- View mode preference (normal/compact)
- Last selected date
This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers or any third parties.
Permissions
Our extension requests minimal permissions:
- Storage: To save your preferences locally on your device
- Host Permissions: To fetch historical data from history.muffinlabs.com
Third-Party Services
We use the following external services:
- history.muffinlabs.com: Provides historical event data. Please refer to their privacy policy for information about their data practices.
- Wikipedia: Event links redirect to Wikipedia for detailed information. Wikipedia has its own privacy policy.
Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information:
- All data is stored locally on your device
- HTTPS is used for all external API communications
- No user data is transmitted to our servers
Children's Privacy
Our extension does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used our extension, please contact us.
